Taizé: Brother Roger and his Community by Rev Brico

When the definitive history of the Christian Church in the twentieth century is finally written down, the story of the celebrated monastic community at Taizé may well occupy a central place. Although locates in the Burgundian region of France, the Taizé community has been from the start a sign of unity and reconciliation that reaches far beyond all man-made borders: representing harmony between Protestant and Catholic, young and old, rich and poor.

The story starts in the 1940s in war-torn France with one man, Roger Schultz, whose goodness and hospitality soon became a byword throughout the region. He was soon joined by other brothers, and together they developed a constantly evolving life-style, deeply rooted in Church tradition, yet equally relevant to the younger generation and the global village.
